A computer will always speed up your work, no matter what it may involve, but there are a few tasks which will still take long. Someone may ask for a report including a list of your files and folders. Unfortunately, MS Windows does not include a feature for this, but you can always turn to software. A list of your folders, along with their contents, can be created, customized and printed with Directory Printer. You will only have to browse your folders, make a few adjustments and the list will be ready.

The software is compatible with most of the popular Windows versions and it has low system requirements. You can download it fast, even on a slower Internet connection, due to the small size of the setup file (4.62 Mb). The installation process does not involve anything except specifying a destination path and what shortcuts to add.

Directory Printer's interface is a small window, filled with check boxes, radio buttons and a few drop menus. You can browse your folders on the navigation pane on the upper left part of the window and see their contents on the upper left part. Targeting a folder for printing does not require adding it to a list or anything of the sorts. Just select it in the navigation pane and start making adjustments for the output.

The program can be set to display certain information, like the type of a file or folder, its size, dates, attributes, version and more. You can also choose to sort them by name, extension, file type or others. These options can be found as check boxes and radio buttons, placed on a column between the navigation pane and the files list.

The options in the lower left area can be used to include subfolders in the printing task, list folders without files, display a page header, include system and hidden files and others. When everything is ready, you can choose from three output types by clicking one of the buttons on the lower right area of the interface. A list can be exported as a .txt, .csv or .html file. Just click the designated button and save it like any other file. When printing the results, you can select either a printer or any other device, including a PDF printer or other similar software. You can also print a tree view of your folders. Clicking one of the aforementioned buttons will bring up a window with a tree structure of your folders. After opening the folders which you want to be seen in the list, you can just click a Print button to get a preview and the final options for the actual printing task.

Pros

Directory Printer features a wide range of flexible options for printing a list of files and folders. The trial version may last for 15 day, but you can do anything, without any restrictions.

Cons

There is no real time preview of the results. You have to click a Preview button each time you make some settings. Directory Printer offers everything you will ever need in order to create and print a list of your files and folders. The simple, user friendly interface makes it all a straightforward task for any user, regardless of experience.
